PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a heating device where flickering and deformation due to high harmonic waves can be kept down to a tolerant range by keeping down the elevation of temperature in a non paper passing part and carrying out heat processing of high thermal efficiency. SOLUTION: In this device, a fixing member is constituted of a heater 11 provided with a thin film and energized heat generating resistance layer 19 (19a, 19b) and a multiple number of energized heat generating resistance layers with different heating ranges that can be independently energized are formed on the heater 11. Here, both of the 2 pieces of the energized heat generating resistance layers 19a, 19b are always formed on one part of a section in a longitudinal direction of the heater when heat fixing is carried out energizing with at least 2 pieces of energized heat generating resistance layers according to a size of recording material.
