摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a pressure-sensitive adhesive reduced in the emission of an unpleasant odor emitted when it is in the form of a solution, a dispersion, a coated sheet, or the like, and when it is applied or dried by decreasing the total aldehyde content of the solid matter of the pressure-sensitive adhesive to a specified value or lower. SOLUTION: This adhesive has a total aldehyde content of at most 300 ppm based on the solid matter of the adhesive. It is obtained by polymerizing a monomer mixture containing a (meth)acrylic ester monomer. The aldehyde is exemplified by a 1-18C aldehyde. In the production of the adhesive, the total aldehyde content of the monomer is desirably at most 300 ppm, more desirably, at most 200 ppm, most desirably, at most 100 ppm. In the last case, the produced adhesive is almost odorless. The monomer having a total aldehyde content of at most 300 ppm can be obtained, for example, by removing an aldehyde from a monomer by a method such as heating, pressure reduction, or adsorption or by converting an aldehyde into the corresponding alcohol with a reducing agent in producing the monomer by esterification.
