PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high-definition, compact and lightweight color flat display device. SOLUTION: This device has such a structure that a plurality of gallium- based semiconductor light-emitting elements are formed on a silicon substrate 1 and that phosphors 10 directly formed on the layers which constitute the semiconductor light-emitting elements are excited by UV rays from the plurality of semiconductor light-emitting elements. The plurality of phosphors 10 are formed and arranged so as to generate a plurality of hues by the excitation by the emission of light. Display controlling circuits to control selection and brightness of the plurality of semiconductor light-emitting elements are formed on the substrate 1. Since the phosphors directly formed on the layers which constitute the semiconductor light-emitting elements are excited by UV rays, the obtd. display device shows high brightness and is compact and lightweight. The device can be obtd. in the production process of semiconductors, it can be easily produced. |
