PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coating material containing slaked lime as the major component and excellent in opacifying properties with reduced coating amounts, and coated materials coated therewith. SOLUTION: This coating material composition comprises slaked lime, an acrylic resin, an inorganic pigment, and water, and as the compounding ratio, (a) the slaked lime is more than 80 wt.% (in terms of solids); (b) the acrylic resin which is a homopolymer or copolymer containing at least one member, as the monomer component, selected from the group consisting of (meth)acrylic acid, a (meth)acrylic ester, (meth)acrylamide and (meth)acrylonitrile is 1-19 wt.% (in terms of solids); and (c) the inorganic pigment is 0.1-15 wt.% (in terms of solids). Coated materials can be prepared by using the coating material composition.
