PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake pedal for automobile, capable of preventing an impacting vehicle force from acting on a pedal arm via push rod of a master vac at the time of head-on collision of a vehicle. SOLUTION: When a vehicle makes a head-on collision and has a pedal bracket 1 relatively moved backward of a dash upper panel, a slide plate 15 pushes a linking member 11 forward and cuts off a link between the linking member 11 and a pedal arm 2 for having the pedal arm 2 and a push rod lever 8 disconnected. Thereby, when a push rod 9 moves backward with a master vac, as the push rod lever 8 operates idling, incongruity that occurs by an impacting vehicle force acting on the pedal arm 2 can be avoided.
