PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set up a production line for an engine with an oil pan by adding a production line for an additional machining to a production line for an engine, without oil pan by designing the engine without the oil pan being convertible only with a simple additional machining. SOLUTION: A crank case 1 is provided with an oil pan communication opening 8, a strainer mounting opening 4, multiple bottom wall through-holes 5, and female screw parts 6 at a bottom part. Upper openings of the bottom wall thorough-holes 5 open inside the crank case 1. The female screw parts 6 are formed inside the bottom wall through-holes 5. An oil pan is provided with an upper opening 9 and a mounting part 11. The mounting part 11 is formed inside the upper edge part of a peripheral wall 12 and is provided with multiple mounting part through-holes 13 and mounting bolts 14 inserted upward into the mounting part through-holes 13. Tightening force by a thread engagement between the mounting bolts 14 and the female screw parts 6 mounts an upper part 7 on a bottom wall 15 of the crank case 1.
