The present invention provides an isolated or recombinant polynucleotide which comprises a nucleic acid sequence encoding a mutant of human elastase I. The mutant elastase I has a frame shift mutation in any one of codons (207 to 225), preferably codon (208) and may be a contributory factor in hyperproliferative skin diseases, such as psoriasis, eczema, lupus erythmatosus, erythema, and possibly cancer. |
