PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress permeation of fuel gas and to prevent fuel gas and oxidizer gas from mixing with each other so as to improve safety by using a material having through pores in its structure and impregnated with a sealing agent as a separator clamped between gas diffusion electrodes for supplying fuel gas to one of the gas diffusion electrodes and supplying oxidizer gas to the other. SOLUTION: After impregnation with a sealing agent, an area ratio of the surface uncovered with a sealing agent is 30% or more on a surface of the separator, desirably. For setting the area ratio to 30% or more, a residual sealing agent on the separator surface may be ground so as to be removed. In this process, desirably, a scope impregnated with the sealing agent ranges 5 μm or more in depth from the surface. A mean diameter of a through pore in a separator molded product ranges 0.05-5 μm preferably. As the sealing agent, water, formaldehyde resin, synthetic rubber adhesives, solvent adhesives, epoxy resin, silicone resin and the like are available. |
