PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handkerchief having good properties for folding and storing, and further having water-absorbing material capable of absorbing sweat and incorporated therewith, and further to obtain the water-absorbing material for the handkerchief. SOLUTION: This handkerchief capable of being easily stored in a pocket or the like of a suit, capable of encapsulating water component of sweat and hardly allowing the water component to ooze therefrom, is obtained by successively arranging the water-absorbing materials 2 having largeness within the unit area to be used when the whole handkerchief body to be stored and used by folding the handkerchief so that the handkerchief in the widely opened state may be folded to the half area state and repeating the folding one by one so as to have a largeness to be stored in the pocket, and separated and arranged so as not to contact with the folded parts 4 and so as to adjust to each other, and further arranging a hardly water-permeable material 5 so as to bridge the folded parts. The water-absorbing reinforcing material for the handkerchief having a means for readily being attached later to the handkerchief is also provided.
