PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an inexpensive electroconductive yarn excellent in softness and antistatic properties and useful for clothes, mats, etc., by composing the yarn of a synthetic resin yarn and an electroconductive thin film such as a metal formed by sputtering of the yarn surface thereof. SOLUTION: This electroconductive yarn comprises (A) a synthetic resin yarn 2 such as polyethylene terephthalate, a polyester, polypropylene, a polyamide, polyethylene or polyp-phenylene terephthalamide and (B) an electroconductive thin film 3 of a metal or a metal oxide such as Ag, Ti, Ag-Pd, Cu-Ni, Sn, Al, Cr, Cu, Ni or stainless steel formed by sputtering of the resin yarn surface 21 of the resin yarn 2. The electroconductive thin film 3 has preferably 50-1,000Åfilm thickness and 0.2-108Ω/cm surface resistance. The diameter of the synthetic resin yarn 2 is preferably 1-500μm.
