PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a constraining method of non-replacing bricks, in replacing a part of bricks of coke oven wall, to prevent the decrease of oven width by slackening or deformation of non-replacing bricks containing the replacing bricks. SOLUTION: When replacing repair part 1 is contacted on right and left sides with non-replacing part 2 and 3, between both non-replacing part 2 and 3 and their facing oven wall 6, constraining boards are positioned; in case the oven wall is not distorted, a rigid constraining board of straight steel material, and in case the oven wall is distorted, a flexible constraining board obtained by connecting short boards with a flexible joint, is used. Facing constraining boards 5 and 5, are linked with a pressurizing jig 7 and the non-replacing parts 2 and 3 which contact with the replacing part 1 are constrained with the constraining board 5.
