The aim of the invention is to provide a device for the treatment of pathological conditions of the vertebral column which to a large extent reduces the high cost and long duration of standard treatments. To this end the vertebral column of a patient is made to vibrate in a suitable manner, by means of a special method which involves pushing and/or vibration. The figure shows a patient sitting on a support (1) with fully extended legs and straightened knees. Both heels of the patient rest on the support (1) and his upper body is stretched forward as far as possible until his hand are extended as far as possible toward the tips of the toes. The hands of the patients are fastened to an impact board (5) by means of two wrist loops or similar devices (3) and fastening elements (4). The patient is asked to straighten his legs and pull the fastening elements (4) with all his strength. As the legs are lifted the body's centre of gravity shifts. When the upper and lower parts of the patient's body are in equilibrium the patient finds himself in a balancing position. In this position the impact board is struck once or more, either by machine or by hand, the number and force of the strikes having to be adjusted individually to the person being treated. |
