PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continue the neutralization of drain for a long period without supplementing a neutralizing agent by a method in which an anode chamber and a cathode chamber installed separately are connected through a salt bridge, a diaphragm, or an ion exchange membrane, voltage is applied, acid drain is electrolyzed in the cathode chamber and discharged. SOLUTION: A saturated KCl aqueous solution 15 containing high concentration K+ ions of high conductivity is placed in an anode chamber 11, and an aluminum rod 13 as an anode is immersed. A cathode chamber 12 is provided with a drain pipe 21b for introducing drain 16, a drain pipe 21a for discharging the treated drain 16, a platinum rod 14 as a cathode, a pH meter for measuring the change in pH of the drainage 16 associated with the progress of electrolysis, an agitator 34, and others. Moreover, the anode chamber and the cathode chamber 12 are connected by a salt bridge 17. The cathode chamber 12 is filled with the drain 16, which is electrolyzed by applying direct current voltage to electrodes 13, 14 and discharged when neutralized close to pH 7. |
