The pump (1) is provided with an airtight housing (2) and has a first relatively flexible hose (18) against which a first body is movable to compress it and cause fluid within it to move to one end. A first end of the hose issues within the housing and a second end issues outside the housing. The first end of the hose forms the suction side or the second end may form it. The housing has closed end walls (4,6) and a cylindrical, all-round closed, longitudinal wall (8). Inside the housing extends a dividing wall (10), parallel to the two end walls. The inner space of the housing is thus divided into a relatively small first chamber (12) and a larger second chamber (14). Centrally through the housing extends a drive shaft (16), coupled to a motor. In the second chamber is the first hose which runs spirally. Between the first hose and the adjacent end waall a second hose (20) also runs spirally. The second hose has a greater diameter than the first and therefore a greater pump volume.
