A unique fold pattern for an airbag cushion is described. This pattern has the airbag folded to fit within the width of a reaction can and positioned to reduce the out-of-position injuries of vehicle passengers and the process for folding the cushion is described. Angular folds permit the biasing of the cushion to one side of the reaction can, thereby providing control for the deployment of the airbag. The process of this invention permits a variety of alternative folding patterns easily adaptable to various airbag systems and positions within the vehicle. |
