Provided is an electroactive, highly branched, conductive organic polymer for use in electrochemical cells, wherein the polymer comprises a plurality of repeating units, which repeating units are bonded to polysulfide chains, and the polysulfide chains comprise a moiety selected from the group consisting of -(Sm)-, -(Sm)<->, and (Sm)<2->; where m is an integer from 3 to 200 and is the same or different at each occurrence. Also provided are composite cathodes comprising such polymers, electrochemical cells comprising such cathodes, and methods of preparing such polymers, composite cathodes, and cells. |
