A catheter and guide wire, in which at least tip sides of the catheter and t he guide wire are formed of a shape memory metal having shape memory properties at least at living body temperatures and having no superelasticity or pseudoelasticity, and which has high safety and excellent operability in comparison with the prior art and is suitably used for various inspections a nd therapies, especially for a contrast inspection, a constriction therapy, an embolus therapy, a foreign body removal/recovery, a calculus capture, and th e like.
