The invention relates to a device for portioning a piece of meat into several slices of equal thickness and weight, comprising a loading and pre-pressing unit (1) for receiving and pressing the piece of meat, a calibrating plate (2) for determining the thickness and volume of the slices, said calibrating plate being vertically displaceable in relation to the loading and pre-pressing unit (1), and a cutting unit (9, 17), which is situated between the loading and pre-pressing unit (1) and the calibrating plate (2), and is used for separating the slices determined by the calibrating unit from the piece of meat. At least two openings for pressing in the piece of meat are provided in the calibrating plate (2), for determining the thickness and the volume of the slices.
