Said device has a suction rotor (30), comprising suction heads (41, 42). The suction rotor (30) is coupled with a four-gear mechanism (31) which erects the folding carton blank (1) along a fixed erecting guide (47). The application of the suction heads (41) to a passing side wall (23) of the folding carton blank (1) which stands perpendicular to the direction of transport (28) and the location of the erecting guide (47) ensure a high performance of the transport unit (1) which is operated at a given rate and allow folding carton blanks (1) whose front lower edge (27), in relation to the direction of transport (28), lies at the very front of the folding carton magazine (11).
