<p>A cathode-ray tube comprising a glass bulb provided with a panel portion having a faceplate part on the inner face of which a fluorescent screen is formed, a neck portion in which an electron gun is fitted, and a funnel portion connecting the panel portion to the neck portion, wherein the relationship between the thickness tc along the bulb axis in the screen effective area of the faceplate part at the central section, the thickness tx at the peripheral sections along the major axis, and the thickness td at the diagonally peripheral sections is given by tc⊃td⊃tx. The luminance of the displayed image at the peripheral sections of the faceplate can be equal to that at the central section. The color purity of the displayed image does not degrade, and the mechanical strength of the glass bulb also does not degrade.</p> |
