<p>A non-rewritable medium ID (2) recorded in a specific area of a medium (1) is read by a medium ID read section (5) of a drive (4) when the medium (1) is formatted, and the medium ID (2) is transmitted to a medium ID read section (7) included in a formatter (10) installed in a computer (11) through a medium ID transfer section (6). The medium ID is inputted into a storage destination determining section (8). According to the medium ID, the number of the block where management information to be written in a readable/writable area (3) of the medium (1) in a logical format is found by calculation. The block number is sent to readable/writable area access sections (9, 12), and management information is stored in a determined storage destination of the readable/writable area (3). In place of the medium ID, the ID of the drive (4) or the ID of the computer (11) can be used.</p> |
