CENTRAL VENOUS CATHETER WITH HEAT EXCHANGE MEMBRANE

A central venous catheter (18) includes coolant supply and returnlumens (54, 56) which communicate coolant to and from first and second heat exchange membranes (66, 68) arranged along the distal segment of the catheter. The coolant in the heat exchange membranes removes heat from the patient. Additional lumens (58, 60) are provided for conventional central venous catheter uses.
