The system consists of a large area gas bag (15) and a guide unit for the bag which is located behind a cover (9). The guide unit extends longitudinally and in built in a flexible manner. The gas bag is held in tension between the guide unit and an unfolding device when it unfolds so as to pull the guide unit out from the cover.
