A system for filling containers, e.g. bottle filling system, has a number of independent stations (1, 2, 3) operating in parallel and each providing the complete filling process. Each station accepts empty containers, sterilises, fills, seals the containers and pushes them out onto a second transporter. The system is modular, with the number of filling modules, between the supply and output transporters, determining the throughput rate. The supplies to the modules, e.g. vacuum, sterilising RF etc. can be taken from central modules. Individual modules can be taken out for repair without having to shut down the whole system.
