The system has a gripper (11) in the input station for the returned packaging fed into the receiving system for gripping and transporting the packaging into the system. The gripper has at least two gripper parts (11a1, 11a2), of which at least one can be moved relative to the other. The grippers can be rotated to enable bar code identification using a scanner. An Independent claim is also included for a method of handling returned packaging.
