A blood processor (100) is provided with a microprocessor (110) and a memory (120), and external to the blood processor (100) there is provided a general purpose computer system (200) programmed with a convenient interface (210) for creating scripts. The general purpose computer system (200) translates the scripts into custom interpretive code adapted for processing by the microprocessor (110) in the blood processor (100), and the code is written into the memory (120) of the blood processor (100) via the microprocessor (110) in the blood processor (100).
