The glow plug has a heating rod with an internal pole connected to heating and possibly control elements and an outer pole, whereby the outer pole is the wall of a heating rod (2), which is electrically isolated from touching components of the plug bod (1). The electrical insulation (5) has insulating material (6) inserted between an inner (7) and an outer (8) supporting tube, whereby the inner tube encloses the heating rod in contact with the rod and the plug body encloses the outer supporting tube in contact with it. An Independent claim is also included for a method of manufacturing a glow plug.
