PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new angiopoetin-like protein which has a specific amino acid sequence, is related to the control of blood vessel neogenesis, and is useful for developing a new medicine for preventing and treating various diseases involved in blood vessel neogenesis and so on. SOLUTION: This is a new angiopoetin-like protein which has the amino acid sequence shown by formula I or II, or an amino acid sequence modified by deleting, adding, inserting and/or substituting one or more amino acid(s) from, to, into and/or in the amino acid sequence, is functionally identical to the protein having the amino acid sequence shown by formula I or II, and is useful for developing a new medicine for preventing and treating diseases involved in blood vessel neogenesis and so on. This protein is obtained by extracting mRNA from a human placenta tissue by the conventional method, synthesizing cDNA using the obtained mRNA, cloning the obtained cDNA by the oligocap method, followed by expressing the obtained gene in an expression system. |
