PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition enabling efficient intake of docosahexaenoic acid(DHA) by formulating a linoleic fatty acid with an α- linolenic faty acid in a specific proportion. SOLUTION: This composition is obtained by including (A) a linoleic fatty acid [n-6, 18:2] and (B) an α-linolenic fatty acid [n-3, 18:3]. In the above composition, the abundance ratio (weight ratio) of the ingredients A to B is the ingredients A/B=0.05-7.5. Since the composition is capable of increasing the amount of the DHA in the brain of an animal administered with the composition, the composition has effects on enhancement of recognition power (learning power) or memory retaining power. The daily dose of the composition is preferably 9-18 g based on 60 kg body weight. The ingredients A and B are obtained from a flax oil, e.g. a flax powder, flax seed meal or a flax seed oil, a perilla oil, etc. |
