PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety valve for a rectangular nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery that has a simple structure and low height and ruptures with a constant rupturing pressure. SOLUTION: A member formed by stamping a thin film of stainless steel, SUS304 having a thickness of 0.05 mm into a round shape having a diameter of 21 mm is used for this safety valve 1, and a horseshoe-shaped carved part 1a is formed on the upper surface of the safety valve 1. The outside diameterϕand the inside diameter of the carved part 1a are set to 15 mm and 13 mm, respectively, and the thickness (t) of the carved part 1a is set to 0.015 mm. Thereby, the safety valve can be formed into a simple structure and can rupture with a low rupturing pressure of 3-5 kgf/cm2, so that a rectangular nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery using it is not damaged. |
