PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication terminal where a recording capacity can efficiently be used by avoiding recording of messages by mischief and undesired messages and even a call from an opposite party whose telephone number is not announced can be recorded with a simple operation without the need for a caller to call again. SOLUTION: In the case that the telephone number of an opposite party cannot be recognized (S13: NO), a message urging entry of the telephone number is transmitted (S20), and when the telephone number is entered from the opposite party (S21: YES) and the telephone number is registered, recording of the message of the opposite party is permitted (S15-S18). When the telephone number is not registered, the recording of its message is rejected (S22, S23). Thus, even in the case of an opposite party whose telephone number is not announced, its message can be recorded without the need for the opposite party to call again by transmitting a DTMF signal by an operation of pushbuttons to an automatic telephone answering machine.
