PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate manufacturing and attain high resistance and excellent magnetic characteristic by utilizing a striped metal piece in which a striped magnetic path is formed in the single material of martensite-based stainless steel. SOLUTION: This high resistance striped motor member shows a soft magnetic property having a large maximum permeability and a small coersive force, after the martensite-based stainless steel is annealed at the temperature lower than the A3 transformation point to obtain a ferro-magnetic material mainly composed of the (ferrite + carbide) organization. Then such ferro-magnetic material is then heated in the shape of stripe in one direction within the surface at the austenite temperature or half-dissolving temperature, and thereafter this material is suddenly cooled to obtain a stripe type nonmagnetic layer. Moreover, when the austenite organization is obtained by suddenly cooling the martensite-based stainless steel from the austenite temperature higher than the annealing temperature, non-magnetic property having permeability of 1.02 or less can be obtained. As a result, the striped motor member having excellent magnetic characteristic including the magnetic region and non-magnetic region and showing higher resistance can be easily manufactured using single material.
