PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing rod which can reduce frictional resistance of the fishing line, and keep excellent water repellency for an extended period. SOLUTION: This fishing rod comprises a middle rod pipe 6, which is provided with a rod pipe body 22 formed by rolling a prepreg sheet of reinforcing fibers arranged in a given direction, impregnated with a synthetic resin, wherein the rod pipe body 22 has a plurality of projections of given height and dimensions arranged at a given pitch on its inner peripheral surfaces, and is coated with a water-repellent film 28, which has a plurality of fine hollows 26 therein and fine irregular surfaces S composed of cavities Sa and projections Sb.
