PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the optical information recording and/or reproducing device which can secure its reliability by providing a position detecting means which is provided with a spindle motor movably toward a disklike information recording medium and detects a predetermined position of the spindle motor, making a semiconductor laser emit light after a carriage moves to the innermost periphery of the disklike information recording medium and confirming the light beam output from the semiconductor laser by an optical detector, and then starting focus search or focus control. SOLUTION: The device has the position detecting means which is provided with the spindle motor 204 movably toward the disklike information recording medium and detects the predetermined position of the spindle motor 204; and the semiconductor laser is made to emit light after the carriage moves to the innermost periphery of the disklike information recording medium and after the optical detector confirms the light beam output from the semiconductor laser, the search or focus control is started. |
