摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the voltage holding rate and to display good video images without causing decrease in voltage when a voltage is applied on a liquid crystal, by applying an electric field from an external power supply through electrodes on a liquid crystal material containing an unhardened light- transmitting resin injected between electrodes so as to harden the unhardened resin. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal material containing a resin is injected into a cell equipped with electrodes 101, 101'. A DC voltage is applied for a specified time from a power supply 120 to the cell with the injected liquid crystal. A DC electric field with 1 to 10 V DC voltage is applied for several seconds to several hundreds seconds. Or, An AC current at a low frequency may be applied instead of a DC current. By the measurement of the current in the system using a current meter 121, the current decrease by 1/5 to 1/100 of the initial value and the charges which decrease the resistance of the system in the liquid crystal resin mixture system can be segregated near the electrode surface. Therefore, the purity of the dispersion liquid crystal can be increased to have high resistance and the voltage holding rate can be increased.
