PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an additive for a matte coating easily dispersible in a matte coating and imparting the coating itself with excellent fluidity while maintaining matte effect of a conventional matte coating containing silica or the like. SOLUTION: The title additive comprises polyvinyl chloride resin particles which have an average particle size of 0.5-50μm and give a resin having an average particle size of 0.5-70μm with the maximum diameter of less than 150μm when 100 pts.wt. of dry powder of the resin particles are admixed with 60 pts.wt. of 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol diisobutyrate and kneaded by a dissolver type mixer at 25 deg.C and 800 rpm for 3 min, and is incorporated in an amount of 5-60 wt.% into a composition for a matte coating.
