PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To bring in a new tool from outside without suspending operation of a machine. SOLUTION: A spindle 1 carries a wear tool to an auxiliary magazine 3 in a tool replacing position Pa for being held by a clamp mechanism 11, receives a new tool from a tool magazine 2 to continue machining work. A worker opens a door 19 to move the auxiliary magazine 3 to a refuge position Pb by manual operation, and removes the wear tool from the auxiliary magazine 3 after closing the door 19, and the new tool is held by the auxiliary magazine 3. And then, the auxiliary magazine 3 is moved to the tool replacing position Pa by manual operation. The spindle 1, when the new tool held by the auxiliary magazine 3 is required, automatically receives this new tool from the auxiliary magazine 3, to perform machining. When machining by the new tool is ended, the spindle 1 makes the tool magazine 2 hold this new tool.
