PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine which can detect draining ability precisely without installing a water-level sensor. SOLUTION: This washing machine has a pressure sensor 40 using an ultra- magnetic deformation element in a suspension-stick receiver metallic material 15 which fixes a suspension stick 3, and detects by the pressure sensor 40 the weight of the washing accepted in a washing and dewatering tank 4 and the weight of the water stored in an outer tank 2. At the time when a drainage valve 22 is opened, a weight reduction within the prescribed time is detected according to the detection signals of the pressure sensor 40. In this way, draining ability is estimated, and in case drainage is extremely inadequate, operation is stopped and an abnormality-warning buzzer is sounded. By changing the set-up time for intermittent operation in the beginning of dewatering operation depending on draining ability, this machine can prevent the water sent forth from the washing in the beginning of dewatering operation from staying in the bottom of the outer tank 2.
