PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record attached information without reserving a new recording area. SOLUTION: Frame memories 3R, 3G, 3B are connected to a CCD image sensor 1b of a retinal camera 1 via an A/D converter section 2, a display changeover section 4, a recording control section 5, and a D/A converter section 6 are connected to the frame memories 3R, 3G, 3B, an input section 7, a recording method management table 8 are connected to the recording control section 5 and a monitor 9 is connected to the D/A converter section 6. Since '0' is set to a pixel value of a most significant bit 3Bmax of the frame memory 3B, the input section 7 stores attached information to the most significant bit 3Bmax. When the display changeover section 4 is turned off, the monitor 9 displays a color image of which the pixel value of the most significant bit 3Bmax is '0', and when the display changeover section 4 is turned on, the attached information recorded in the frame memory 3B is displayed.
