<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an inexpensive communication system by realizing a configuration to connect a plurality of communication units corresponding to a reference model of a multi ATM so as to simplify the configuration. SOLUTION: A communication unit 1 is provided with a physical layer processing means 101 that processes a protocol on a physical layer, a plurality of host layer processing means 21, 22 that process a protocol on higher order layer than the physical layer, and an internal connection means 81 that interconnects the physical layer processing means 101 and a plurality of the host layer processing means 21, 22 that are mutually connected. Then the communciation system is provided with an external connection means 8 that interconnects at least one host layer processing section 22 of the communication unit 1 with an internal connection means 82 of other communication unit 2.</p> |
