PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the manufacture of the optical waveguide component which facilitates aligning operation. SOLUTION: To manufacture the optical waveguide component which has optical waveguides 2, 3, and 5 and an optical fiber 10 optically connected thereto, a substrate 1 after having a lower clad layer 2, a core 3 and an upper clad layer 5 formed of resin materials is covered with resist 6 except specific parts of optical waveguide ends corresponding to parts for connection with the optical fiber 10, the lower clad layer 2 and upper clad layer 5 of the specific parts of the optical waveguide ends are removed with a solvent, and in this removing process, the cores 3 of the optical waveguides are exposed at the optical waveguide end parts of the connection parts. The cores and optical fiber can be positioned through a microscope because of the geometric shape of the cores 3, so the aligning operation is facilitated. |
