PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly make a skew correction of a paper sheet by applying a sufficient slip to the paper sheet on one side in the width direction, and applying a sufficient feed on the other side. SOLUTION: This printer 1 is constituted of a main body frame 2, a paper conveyance base 5, a platen 6, a printing head 7, first paper conveyance roller pairs 8, second paper conveyance roller pairs 9 and a skew correction stopper 10. Proper slips are generated between a plurality of conveyance roller pairs 8 and a paper sheet for a skew correction. A larger slip is smoothly generated on the collision side with the skew correction stopper 10 in the width direction of the paper sheet, a sufficient slip is applied on one side in the width direction of the paper sheet, a sufficient feed is applied on the other side, and the angular moment for the skew correction is properly applied to the paper sheet. Jamming of the paper sheet at the skew correction position or an incomplete skew correction can be prevented.
