PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compound capable of safely raising the central acetylcholine level. SOLUTION: N-Anisoyl-γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) or p-anisic acid is used in order to prepare a pharmaceutical composition comprising the N-anisoyl- GABA or the p-anisic acid for promoting the intracerebral acetylcholine release. Furthermore, the pharmaceutical composition for promoting the intracerebral acetylcholine release comprises the N-anisoyl-GABA or the p-anisic acid as an active ingredient and a therapeutically inert carrier.
