PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a ferrite powder for rubber and plastic magnets and a manufacturing method thereof, which has superior magnetic characteristics not obtained from conventional M-type ferrites, utilizing a W-type ferrite having high magnetic characteristics. SOLUTION: This ferrite powder material for rubber and plastic magnets is a W-type ferrite powder, having a compsn. AO.n(BO).mFe2O3 and a mean powder grain size of 0.3-3 μm where A is one or more of Ba, Sr, Ca and Pb, B is one or more of Co, Ni, Mn, Mg, Cr, Cu and Zn, 7.4<=m<=8.8, 1.2<=n<=2.5, and 8.8<=m+n<=10.8. The method of manufacturing the ferrite powder material for rubber and plastic magnets includes at least either calcining or heat treatment executed in an nonoxidic or reduced atmosphere with an oxygen concn. of 2% or less. |
