PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel capable of preventing the deformation of shape of each discharge cell due to the chamber of a substrate and breakdown of barriers in a surface discharge type alternating current plasma display panel having discharge spaces divided by vertical walls and lateral walls of the barriers. SOLUTION: A plasma display panel is provided with plural pairs of row electrodes (X, Y) extended in the row direction in parallel with the sequence direction and for respectively forming a display line L and a dielectric layer 11 for covering these pairs of row electrodes (X, Y). Plural sequence electrodes forming discharge cells in each discharge space S at positions crossing the pairs of row electrodes are extended in the sequence direction in parallel with the row direction at a side of a back substrate 13 opposite to a front substrate 10 through a discharge space S. In this case, the plasma display panel is provided with barriers for dividing the discharge space S in the row direction and the sequence direction per each discharge cell with vertical walls extended in the sequence direction and lateral walls extended in the row direction while being arranged between the front substrate 10 and the back substrate 13, and the lateral walls of the barriers are separated by a clearance provided between each display line.
