PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a generating time of thumbnail pictures for picture management and to display pictures of an electronic film at a high-speed by simply and quickly completing downloading of picture data from the electronic film. SOLUTION: The image storage device is provided with a data input means 13 from a 1st storage medium 51, a 2nd storage medium 12 to store and manage data received from the 1st storage medium 51, a thumbnail picture generating means that manages image data recorded in the 2nd storage medium 12 and a copy instruction means 5 that instructs copying of data from the 1st storage medium 51 to the 2nd storage medium 12. In the case of copying data stored in the 1st storage medium 51 to the 2nd storage medium 12, the copy instruction means copies the data without producing thumbnail pictures.
