PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make active carbon light in weight, to improve its conveying and transporting properties and to make it possible to rapidly suppress the pH increase of outflow water in an initial period of water passage by allowing an alkaline ash content to remain in pores and adsorbing acidic gas in the pores. SOLUTION: The active carbon for water treatment is prepared by allowing the alkaline ash content to remain in the pores and adsorbing the acidic gas in the pores. At the time of the initial water passage, the alkaline ash content and the acidic gas are caused to make neutralization reaction at the point of the time the water immerses into the pores of the active carbon for water treatment and the salt formed by this neutralization is dissolved in the water and made to flow out, by which the pH increase is suppressed. As a result, the moisture is not adsorbed in the active carbon for water treatment and, therefore, the active carbon for water treatment which is light in weight and has the excellent conveying property is obtained. Also, >=1 kind of hydrogen chloride, hydrogen bromide, sulfur dioxide, or the like, are incorporated into the acidic gas. Further, organic matter is carbonized and after this carbide is activated, the acidic gas is permeated through this active carbon at the time of production. |
