PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent adverse influences of discharge products depositing and accumulating on a contact electrifying member on a photoreceptor and to prevent image defects such as image flowing and image blur in repeated electrophotographic operation by incorporating compds. having heterocycles containing nitrogen as heteroatoms in the molecular structures into the surface layer of the electrifying member. SOLUTION: Compds. having heterocycles containing nitrogen as heteroatoms in the molecular structures are incorporated into the surface layer of a contact electrifying member. As for the heterocycles, for example, pyridine rings, pyrimidine rings, quinoline rings, triazine rings and thiazole rings can be used. Not only the above-mentioned compds. but a phenolic or phosphite-based antioxidant can be used together for the surface layer of the electrifying member. The compds. containing heterocycles can be incorporated by dissolving, dispersing or kneading in the surface layer material of the electrifying member, and the amt. of compds. added is preferably 0.1 to 30 wt.% of the solid content of the surface layer material. |
