PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain high speed access by shortening the seek time of the recording track of a magnetic disk. SOLUTION: A plurality of arm parts 6 on which plural magnetic heads are arranged side by side along the radial direction of a magnetic disk 1 are provided in this magnetic disk device and the device reads out address information or the like at a time with a plurality of magnetic heads are from a plurality of cylinders being on the magnetic disk 1. Moreover, the device records information at a time with the plurality of magnetic heads. Consequently, since the device can reproduce a plurality of address information at a time, it can shorten the time required for seeks and enables the high speed access. Furthermore, since the device can perform a recording and reproduction with respect to the plurality of cylinders at a time, it can shorten a recording and reproducing time.
