PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an earth retaining wall capable of surely operating earth and sand load as tensile force, surely holding the load by an expansive tendon and lightening weight or the like to also reduce labor such as conveyance or the like. SOLUTION: A groove-like slit 9 is provided in a middle part between right and left of a circular arc-shaped surface 2 of a block main body 1 in the vertical direction, tensile member anchoring holes 3 and 3 located on a straight line to pass through the block main body are provided to both right and left sides of the circular arc-shaped surface 2. The tension member anchoring holes 3 and 3 are formed in the shape a taper so that an opening section is enlarged with the movement of them to both ends. The end of the tension member 5 having both bend ends is placed to each of the tension member anchoring holes 3 and 3, and it is filled with a hardener to fix. By the constitution, earth and sand load is operated, a block A is bent by cracks occurring therein by making the slit 9 as a boundary, and it surely acts on the tension member 5 as tension force. Weight or volume can be reduced because of the light tension member 4. Since the tension member 5 is used for constructing a flexible structure, economic efficiency can be greatly promoted.
